The 2026 League of Legends World Championship is nearly upon us, and Riot Games has unveiled a comprehensive primer covering everything from the tournament format and schedule to in-game rewards and a massive fan celebration in New York City. This year's theme, THIS IS OUR MOMENT, frames Worlds 2026 as more than just the finale of the LoL Esports season—it's a shared experience a full year in the making, placing players, fans, and the entire ecosystem at the center of the story.

For pros, it's a chance to push beyond their limits. For fans, it's a chance to show up and make the moment bigger. For the ecosystem, it's an opportunity to create memories that will last for years. Because history doesn't happen without you—make your moment count.

Tournament Format and Schedule

Worlds 2026 unfolds across three distinct stages, with the action kicking off in Los Angeles before heading to New York for the Knockout Stage. The Play-In Stage runs October 15–18, followed by the Swiss Stage from October 23–31, and finally the Knockout Stage from November 3–14. All Play-In matches begin at 11 AM PDT, while Quarterfinals and Semifinals start at 4 PM CST.

The Play-In Stage features a four-team, best-of-five, double-elimination bracket with matchups determined by a fully random draw. The draw will take place after the CBLOL Finals on October 10. The participating teams are <CBLOL2>, KC, C9, and MVK. From there, the Swiss Stage uses a five-round format where teams must secure at least three match wins to advance; three losses mean elimination. Round 1 matchups are drawn randomly after the Play-In Stage concludes on October 18, with teams split into four tiers—Tier 1 faces Tier 4, and Tier 2 faces Tier 3, with no same-region matchups in Round 1.

Subsequent rounds pair teams with identical records, and while repeat opponents are avoided, same-region clashes are permitted starting in Round 2. Once the Swiss Stage wraps, the Quarterfinals Draw pits the two 3-0 teams against two 3-2 teams, with the remaining four teams drawn into two additional matches.

Worlds Fan Fest and Community Events

The celebration extends beyond the arena with Worlds Fan Fest at Pier 36 in Lower Manhattan, running November 12–14. Over three days, fans can immerse themselves in interactive experiences and activations from Riot and its partners, with ample opportunities to play, explore, and connect with the broader League community. The Fan Fest main stage will host developer panels, special guests, and community programming throughout the weekend, all building toward the Worlds Final. More details will be shared soon.

Pick'Ems and Crystal Ball are also returning for Worlds 2026, offering familiar ways to play with brand-new rewards. Fans can make their picks at lolesports.com/pickems or directly in the League of Legends client. Scoring for Crystal Ball predictions takes place after Worlds concludes, with performance-based Tier rewards delivered on or around November 14. If you believe you qualified for a Pick'Ems reward but didn't receive credit by November 21, contact Player Support. Note that eligibility may vary by region due to local regulations, and Pick'Ems is unavailable in certain territories.

In-Game Celebrations and Rewards

Worlds 2026 brings a fresh lineup of in-game offerings. The featured skin is True Damage Know My Name Yasuo, giving one of League's most iconic champions a Worlds-ready look. Alongside the skin, players can purchase individual standard chromas, border sets, and chroma bundles. An exclusive Worlds chroma is also available through Worlds Unlocked purchases.

The Season 3: Worlds 2026 Pass offers another way to engage with the tournament, featuring a Prestige Chroma and Prestige Emote, with premium options granting additional Mythic Essence and Battle Pass Levels. Fans can once again represent their favorite teams and regions with LoL Esports team icons and regional emotes for the LPL, LEC, LCK, LCS, LCP, and CBLOL.

Worlds 2026 also continues to honor championship history with Elite Worlds Winner Chromas for the 2013 SKT T1 K championship skins. Sales of the True Damage Yasuo skin and bundles, the Season 3 Act II: Worlds Battle Pass, Elite Worlds Winners Chromas, team icons, and regional emotes all support the competitive ecosystem, with Riot sharing a portion of proceeds with Tier-1 LoL Esports teams.

Additionally, the International Tournament Skin Promotion returns, giving fans the chance to pick up skins used by the winning team during the Worlds Finals at a major discount. Individual eligible skins are available at 33% off. Prestige, Ultimate, Mythic Variant, Exalted, and Transcendent skins are excluded; if one of these is used during the Finals, it will be replaced with a comparable eligible skin.

Twitch Subs, Wild Rift, and Charity

Twitch Subs are back for Worlds. All Twitch subscribers to the LoL Esports channels enjoy benefits like custom chat emotes, badges, and ad-free viewing. Riot will allocate a portion of the proceeds to the Global Revenue Pool, directly supporting leagues and teams in the LoL Esports ecosystem.

The celebration extends to Wild Rift with the Worlds Volibear skin, featuring a first-of-its-kind DIY customization system that lets you mix and match parts to create a look entirely your own. Grab the pass to unlock Worlds-themed rewards and goodies, and be sure to log in during Worlds to join the in-game festivities.

For the fourth consecutive year, Riot is partnering with education nonprofit DonorsChoose to support teachers in California, Texas, and New York. During each stage of Worlds, Riot will fund gaming, game development, and esports-related classroom projects in each host state. Through this partnership, Riot and players have funded over 1,600 classroom projects, supporting nearly 1,000 teachers across 49+ states and reaching more than 110,000 students.
