Big changes are coming to Teamfight Tactics. In Patch 18.6, TFT will officially launch its standalone client on PC, marking a new era for the auto battler. Riot Games also offered an early look at Set 19, detailed compensation for affected players, and announced appreciation missions to thank the community for its patience during the transition to Unreal Engine.

TFT Standalone Client: A New Home

Patch 18.6 will introduce TFT’s dedicated client, meaning PC players should expect a larger download than usual. While the move away from the League client marks a significant shift, Riot assures fans that swapping between Summoner’s Rift (or ARAM) and the Convergence will remain just a click away. The separation allows the team to build tailored tools and experiences for TFT players, such as more robust in-client events, improved lobby visuals, and previews of Tacticians and Arenas before adding them to a loadout.

The initial launch will focus on functionality and stability, with further improvements rolling out in subsequent patches. Patch 18.7 will reintroduce Leaderboards, streamline adding friends to lobbies, and make it easier to switch between solo and party queues. End-of-game screens will also receive attention, with new ways to share comps and team codes. Riot is also addressing PBE feedback about UI scaling on larger displays, aiming to revamp the UX for a cleaner look and feel.

Set 19 Sneak Peek: Music, Rooms, and True Damage

Set 19 will kick off a global music event, and Riot provided a glimpse of what’s to come. A new in-client experience called the Tour Collection will let players decorate a personal room with memorabilia from their favorite bands. With over 70 customization options, players can build a space dedicated to their Bias and Oshi, showcasing their progress through the set.

Gameplay-wise, the True Damage trait is getting a fresh twist. Players can choose between an A-side for win streaking or a B-side to capitalize on loss streaks, akin to flipping a record. More details on the trait and other champions will be revealed in the full Set 19 Dev Drop.

Player Appreciation Missions and Compensation

Acknowledging the bumps during the Unreal Engine transition, Riot is introducing simple missions in Patch 19.1 to thank players and celebrate Set 19’s launch:

  • Play 1 game in Set 19 to earn 500 Treasure Tokens.
  • Play 20 games in Set 19 to earn one random Mythic Chibi (from a banner containing only Mythic Chibis).

Additionally, players who owned certain higher-tier cosmetics before Patch 18.7 will receive automatic compensation after Patch 19.1 goes live:

  • Owners of a Mythic Tactician or Arena before Patch 18.7 will receive 2 Mythic Medallions.
  • Owners of a Prestige Tactician before Patch 18.7 will receive an Unannounced Mythic Chibi.

Follow the Fix: Patch 18.6 Improvements

The team continues to address community feedback through the Follow the Fix initiative. Patch 18.6 includes several quality-of-life fixes:

  • Shorter wait times on Carousel to match prior set timings.
  • Item Borders fixed on mobile.
  • In-game chat improvements.
  • Streamer Mode re-added.
  • Combat Recaps fixed to provide real-time information and champion names on hover.

More detailed gameplay bugfixes will be listed in the patch notes. Players can track progress at the official Follow the Fix page.

Riot promises more information on continued fixes, optimizations, and the full Set 19 reveal in the coming weeks. For now, the team is back to work, and players can look forward to a fresh chapter for TFT.
